Our Mission Statement

To provide dental continuing education, CPR courses and networking to dental professionals
IDPS Zürich is a professional, non-profit organization for English speaking Dental Professionals who live and work in Switzerland. We offer monthly continuing education courses, regular CPR courses, and weekend seminars. These courses, given in English, enable our members to have the most current and up-to-date information on various dental procedures, products, medicine, health technology, and regulations. Our continuing education courses allow our members (and non-members) to meet their specific education needs. The IDPS provides social contact among members, networking through newsletters and this web site, and support in integrating into Swiss society.

Club History

The first American Dental Hygienist to practice in Switzerland was Barbara Benson. She was brought here in 1961, to test the viability of the profession within the Swiss dental community. In 1962, seven more dental hygienists were invited to establish the adaptability, effectiveness and possible need for the profession. This pilot program lasted 3 years. In 1966 the Zahnärtze-Gesellschaft Zürich (ZGZ) voted on a definite establishment of the profession. Today, Dental Hygiene is a highly respected profession.

American and Canadian Dental Hygienists are considered to be among the best that the profession has to offer. In order to maintain this high level of professionalism, a continuing education organization was established in 1973.

Today this club is known as the International Dental Professionals of Switzerland (IDPS).
